Search Engine Optimization Content Basics

Search Engine Optimization content may not sound familiar to non-Internet marketing people and why the fuss about search engines, traffic, content, keywords, etc. Still, the phrase is resounding over the Web that it seems to be the lifeblood of online businesses.

SEO is optimizing a website so it will easily be found by people; and content, the information that lives and consumed on the Web, is used to attract the traffic of the search engines.

Content should be unique, useful and cannot be found anywhere else. For example, if the webpage is about a product, it is better to include other information and not just the same brochure information found on other sites.

Quality is the strongest foundation of content. All other factors depend on it.

Along with optimizing content for the search engines is the use of keywords, and doing the following vital steps:

Check the keyword

To use Search for drawing traffic to the website, it is best to check which keywords are frequently used.

Next to good content is keyword research. It is best to create content about what people are searching, one that effectively answers their queries.

For instance, if people use “heart attack prevention,” a content that uses “avoiding heart attacks” which gives ways to prevent heart attack, may not rank highly as it does not jibe with what people actually use in their search.

Organize content

The content should be well-organized and logical enough to be easy-to-read and understand.

An organized and logical content can draw engagement, or meaningful user interactions. It is best if users stay on the webpage, instead of clicking through the site and get back to the search results immediately.
If they review the content longer, than on other sites, search engines see their “time on site” or “long click” as a gauge of the content’s value.

Aside from being good for the search engines, it also becomes valuable to visitors. If they stay longer on the site, and keep coming back, the site will eventually get high rankings.

Making content with less value and for the sake of search engines alone may be penalized by Google. It will get low conversions and high bounce rates.

Optimize keyword

the researched keyword should then be optimized in the content, so that Search is maximized.

That means, actual use of keywords in the content. For example, the keywords should be found in the content at least five times, or has a keyword density of 2.45 percent.

There is no precise number for the frequency of keyword usage though. They should just flow naturally so that content quality would not suffer.

Promote content

Promoting the content after creation by building links or sharing it on social media networks, is one of the best ways to draw traffic as well.

Liking and sharing content is another metric which search engines may use to determine content value.

When someone thinks about SEO, he should also think about content marketing.

Content is king, and such plays a vital role in SEO success. On top of it all, content should be valuable and of high quality.
